Design Process

THE EXCEL DESIGN & ORDERING PROCESS

Excel Industries

Step One

Excel’s showroom is open by appointment only.

For any inquiries, we may be reached by phone at 250-376-8711 or by email to info@excelkitchens.ca

You can also visit the Quote Request area of our website to leave us your information !

Note: As a result of unprecedented material & labor shortages in our industry, our current lead time for our “made to order” product is approx 8-10 weeks after final design & finish selections are approved & order is placed to our factory.

In most cases, if you can provide us with reasonably accurate dimensions of your space, we can often generate preliminary cost estimations before a face to face meeting!  This may help determine whether our product line is within your budget!

Showroom Visit or In-Home Consultation

SECOND STEP

The second step for a new home build would be a showroom appointment. For renovations, it would most likely be a in-home consultation. At this time, a retainer fee is applicable. We will measure the space, and inspect for any special requirements. This is also a great opportunity to discuss any likes or dislikes of the current space.

Design & Development

THIRD STEP

The third step is the all-important design development stage. Your designer will implement the agreed-upon direction for design, create concept drawings & determine a price range for your project. These first draft concept drawings & design ideas are included in the retainer fee agreed upon in Step 2.

FOURTH STEP

The fourth step and services beyond this point require an agreement/contract to be signed & a deposit to be made. Additional showroom meetings & site visits will be arranged to make any revisions to the floor plans.

FINAL STEP

The final step is approving the final shop drawings and specifications and signing off on the final cost of the project. Once all plans & specifications are finalized, we are ready to start the manufacturing process & a timeline on delivery & installation will be confirmed. Each project is unique & our production timelines can vary depending on scope of work & other factors.

Design Fees and Retainers

Step 1 –  Limited due to current restrictions.

Step 2 – A design retainer fee is applicable for design concept services. The fee is determined by the size and scope of your project. This fee will be credited from your contract price if you decide to proceed with the project.

Step 3 – Conceptual drawings & a estimate are presented. These are included as part of the design retainer fee set in Step 2.

Step 4 –  Contract agreement in principal is signed & deposit amount is agreed upon & paid.

Step 5 – Final design & finish selections are agreed upon & final cost is updated.  A further payment may be requested at this time.
